Lubbock's dog parks are very popular, especially in the mornings and on the weekends. But on Friday, October 21 for most of the day, two of Lubbock's dog parks will be closed in order to maintain them.

Years ago when dog parks were being discussed in Lubbock, many citizens asked if the City of Lubbock was going to maintain the dog parks and make sure grass continues to grow and that the grounds look nice. While it's users responsibility to clean up after their dogs, the City of Lubbock is responsible for making sure everything else is taken care of and that's what will be happening at two of Lubbock's dog parks on Friday according to a press release from the city.

City of Lubbock’s McAlister Dog Park and Canyon Run Dog Park will be closed on Friday, October 21, 2022, until 5:00 p.m. for overseeding maintenance in preparation for the winter season. Overseeding will help with turf durability throughout the winter months.

Hours at the City of Lubbock Dog Park, Hub City Unleashed (46th and Ave U), will not be impacted.

It's great that the dog parks are being used by citizens across the city and it's a very good thing to see that the City of Lubbock is maintaining these parks for people to use. Lubbock hasn't always been the best at maintaining buildings, parks, and facilities.

Remember, all dog parks in Lubbock will be open Saturday for those who want to use them and let their four legged friends run around and have a good time.
