Sunday night (Oct. 20) in Dallas, the National Weather Service confirmed that a tornado did touch down at about 9:48 p.m. just two miles north of Love Field Airport.

The tornado traveled northeast for about 17 miles before dissipating. Multiple buildings were severely damaged or completely destroyed, including a Home Depot which had its roof caved in.

There have not yet been any confirmed deaths, but the Washington Post reports that multiple people were injured and power was knocked out for about 65,000 people.

According to Oncor Electric, which serves the Dallas/Fort Worth area, thousands of their customers remain without power as of Monday morning (Oct. 21).

Because of damage caused by the storm, The Dallas Independent School District has cancelled classes for over 18 of its campuses. Richardson ISD has also cancelled classes at all of their campuses.
