Thursday on KFYO Mornings with Dave King and Matt Martin, the CEO of AgTexas Farm Credit Services Tim McDonald joined Dave and Matt to talk about AgTexas Farm Credit and their AgYough of the Month program and scholarships.

Ag Texas Farm Credit is a full service agricultural credit association serving 43 counties. They offer capital operating loans, intermediate term loans, and long term real estate loans for farmers and ranchers. They also offer full service crop and livestock insurance. AgTexas Farm Credit has been financing for the agricultural industry for 85 years.

This is the 4th year of the AgTexas AgYouth of the Month Program, one of McDonald's signature programs. Tim explained that they select 78 students to be honored as AgYouth of the month. They hold a banquet and invite all the students' family and Ag teachers. Then 21 students are selected randomly for scholarships of $1,000 each for a total of $21,000. A total of 7 students will be selected from the South Plains Region. The program is open for highschool seniors that are involved in 4H and FFA. The students can use the money for a four-year college, two-year college, or a technical education.

"It is important that we all do what we can to help our agricultural producers be successful because it's the backbone of our area. So we're glad to be in the market and happy to help in any way we can and certainly appreciate these young people that we can get behind and hopefully help them as they get on their road to their future."
