Here's something you may not know. In Texas, some local police departments and prosecutors have their own unsolved crimes, also known as cold cases online for the public to look over and submit tips.
But so do the Texas Rangers and they have a list is considered to be the top cold cases in Texas.
The good news for Texans? We don't have a ton of unsolved crimes in Texas Most crimes in the state that involve victims are caught by law enforcement. Most murder cases across Texas are solved by local authorities or with help from state or federal authorities. But sadly there are cases that go unsolved and eventually become cold cases after so many years.
The Texas Rangers keep a website where they typically list the top 12 cold case investigations. However, right now they have 13 cases on listed on the Texas Department of Public Safety website. The cases are from all over the State of Texas and go back to 1979. The latest case added to the site is that of Marianne Wilkins of Tarrant County. She was murdered in 2007 when she answered her door and was shot multiple times according to the Texas Department of Public Safety.
There is also the cold case investigation into the death of Veronica Taylor of Lubbock.
Below you will find a gallery of the top cold case investigations from the Texas Rangers. Look through them and if you know anything about any of the cases, Texas Crime Stoppers is offering a cash reward of up to $3,000. All tips are anonymous. Call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-252-TIPS (8477). You can also submit tips online.
