The Porsche Cayman has finally made a better name for itself with the GT4 edition.

The Cayman GT4 is being compared by many car news organizations, such as Top Gear, to the stripped down Porsche 911 GT3, which is generally seen as a track only car because it has no creature comforts.

Where the Cayman differs is that it has those comforts such as comfortable seats and air conditioning. The GT4 steals its motor from the 911 Carrera S, a 3.8 liter flat 6 cylinder that is turned 180 degrees and sits mid chassis with the transmission in the rear. This is very contrary to what Porsche usually does, which is mounting the engine at the rear and the transmission in the front for balance.

The GT4’s departure from previous models comes at huge cost though, with pricing doubling previous versions up to $90,000 plus. The poor man’s Porsche is no longer for the poor.
