The Shack is a Lubbock Favorite. Evie Mae's just made the top 10 in Texas Monthly. And now there's a new-old kid on the block. A food truck by the name of Whistlin' Dixie.

Full disclosure: I have tried both The Shack and Evie Mae's multiple times and love them both. I have not yet had Whistlin' Dixie's barbecue yet, though. But it runs the same as the others, they serve starting at 11 am until they run out, or 11-3 ish.

Whistlin' Dixie says they've been smokin' since 1989. This is reportedly the same Whistlin' Dixie that was once at 35th and Slide. That location, and all others at the time, closed for good. So it looks like the food truck is a rebirth for these smokers.

Currently, they set up at the same location every day: 4001 19th street. And to make sure you're there when they still have food, you should follow them on Twitter.
