The LCU Women have been eligible to win the NCAA Division II National Championship for four years now, and this weekend they notched their second trophy.

The double overtime game was won by LCU, who outlasted Southwestern Oklahoma State by pulling away for a final 95-85 score.

Lubbock Christian’s win wasn't without adversity, as they trailed by seven points at halftime. The Chaps watched SWOSU miss a 3-pointer with seconds left in regulation which would have clinched the game. Then, the Lady Chaps missed a game-tying 3-pointer is their own with eight seconds left in the first overtime period, just before Maddi Chitsey did this:

It was purely academic in the second OT, as LCU came out on fire with all of the momentum on their side, outscoring SWOSU by 10 in the final minutes of the game.

The fans who couldn't make it to Ohio to take in the game joined the festivities on the jumbotron at The Rip on LCU's campus.

According to NCAA.com, the most outstanding player in the tournament was Lubbock Christian's Olivia Robertson, who finished with 24 points in the national title game.

Joining her on the all-tournament team is Drury's Daejah Bernard, SWOSU's Bethany Franks and Hailey Tucker, and Lubbock Christian's Maddi Chitsey, who nailed the three-pointer to get to double overtime.

Congrats to LCU and the Lady Chaps, who locked in their second national championship in four seasons.
