Texas Tech University will test an important severe weather notification system this weekend.

On Sunday, the school will perform an audible test of the tornado sirens on campus.

It only takes a moment for weather to turn deadly, and Tech says that “it’s imperative that we periodically test our emergency systems to ensure their proper function, should the instance arise that they are needed. The test will take place at 2 p.m.

The exercise is being conducted by the Texas Tech Police Department and the university physical plant. No other emergency notification systems will be tested.
