Texas Tech to Host Appathon Competition

Texas Tech University will hold another competition for mobile application design.

The College of Media and Communication and the Whitacre College of Engineering will hold their second annual Appathon on Friday, February 21^st and Saturday, February 22^nd.

Within 24 hours, teams of one to three people will compete to create a mobile app through coding and design. Each team will present their app to judges, who will consider functionality, accessibility, and sustainability when choosing a winner.

This year’s app theme is Study Abroad.

“The Study Abroad theme should be exciting for students because it will give them a chance to think about not only designing an app, but how that app might work in another country,” said Andrew Byrne, a web design specialist in the College of Media and Communication.

Byrne continued, saying “There are many logistical things that the Study Abroad program could benefit from that will bring a different perspective from a more direct app competition like last year.”
