Texas Tech softball’s five-game winning streak was broken Friday night by North Texas.

The Mean Green managed to beat the Red Raiders 5-3 at Bobcat Stadium in San Marcos, following Tech’s 6-1 win against Texas State earlier in the day.

“It was a disappointing loss,” said Tech head coach Shanon Hays. “We left too many runners on base and made a few mistakes in the field that cost us. We have to regroup tonight, though, and play well tomorrow.”

The Red Raiders continue in the Texas Shootout with a Saturday afternoon doubleheader against UT Arlington and Sam Houston State. Tech faces the Mavericks at 1:30 p.m. and the Bearkats at 5:30 p.m.
