A Texas Tech soccer player has earned high honors from a national publication.

Freshman forward Janine Beckie has been named to the Top Drawer Soccer Freshmen Team of the Year.

Beckie, a first team selection, is one of just two Big 12 rookies named to the postseason squad. She paced the Red Raiders with 14 goals and five assists in 2012.

Taylor Lytle was the last Red Raider named to the Freshmen Team of the Year, earning the honors in 2008.

Beckie, a Highlands Ranch, Colorado native, scored five game-winning goals during the year, and her 14 goals are the second-most in school history by a freshman and the most since 1996.

She was also named as the Disney Soccer/NSCAA National Player of the Week on November 1st.
