The Texas Tech Health Sciences Center has selected a new nursing dean.

Tech alumnus Michael L. Evans will take the position as dean of the School of Nursing in January, after serving as CEO of the Goldfarb School of Nursing at Barnes-Jewish College in St. Louis, Missouri. He also previously worked as vice president for learning and chief learning officer for Texas Health Resources, a 13-hospital health care system.

Evans has served as chief nursing officer at several Texas hospitals, and has been appointed as the next president of the American Nurses Credentialing Center.

He graduated from Texas Tech in 1971, and received his Ph.D in nursing from the University of Texas at Austin.
