The Texas Tech University System Board of Regents is meeting today and tomorrow in Abilene.  The board has elected Mickey Long, chairman and Larry Anders will serve as vice chairman.

“I am honored to have been elected to lead this group,” Long said. “The current momentum throughout the Texas Tech University System is exciting, and I look forward to continuing to work with the Board of Regents to help advance our institutions.”

Two new members of the Board of Regents were also sworn in. They are Tim Lancaster of Abilene and John Esparza of Austin.Also, Rick Francis of El Paso was sworn in for a new 6-year term. The terms for all three regents expire on January 31, 2019.

During the meetings the regents will discuss a variety of issues including the master plans for the Texas Tech and Texas Tech Health Sciences Center campuses in Lubbock and the design budget for the Texas Tech Research and Technology Park.
