A Texas Tech athlete has been named as a conference athlete of the week.

Red Raider sophomore Cierra White has been named as the Big 12 Female Track and Field Athlete of the Week.

White swept the 100-meter and 200-meter dash last weekend at the UTEP Springtime Invitational, jumping to first nationally in the 100-meters with a time of 11.09 and second in the 200-meters with a school record time of 22.91.

The Philadelphia native is the only Big 12 female athlete ranked in the top five of both events.

“She had a fabulous performance at UTEP in both events last week and is just very deserving,” said Tech Track and Field Coach Wes Kittley.

White earned second team All-America honors last year in the outdoor 200-meter dash.
