Are Texans Actually Showering As Often As They Should?
When it comes to how often you should shower, there really isn't one clear answer. It can depend on multiple factors like where you live, what you do for work, and how active you are in your day-to-day lifestyle.
But for our purposes, we're going to focus on the average showering practices in America as compared to those of Texans.
America v. Texas Showering Behaviors
You may be surprised to learn that the average American takes six showers per week while each shower lasts about 15 minutes. Pretty normal, right? Well, when you compare this to Texas, it's really not too different, as Texan showers last, on average, 14.7 minutes.
Using these numbers, along with the fact that a 15-minute shower uses 38 gallons of water, we can calculate that the average American uses roughly 221 gallons of water each week for showering.
Fun Fact: 43% of Americans admit to singing in the shower, with pop music being the most popular genre. In addition to having your own talent show in the bathroom, nearly 17% of Americans brush their teeth in the shower as well.
What We Do In The Showers
During the recent survey, 37% of participants admitted that they pee in the shower, and 3 in 10 Americans also say they don't actually scrub their legs and feet, they just let the water trickle down.

As an avid loofah-user, this next bit offends me, but 31% of Americans also said they don't use any scrubber to clean their bodies like a washcloth or loofah, they just use their hands... this bothers me more than it should. You're just pushing around the dirt and germs!
Sorry for losing my temper.
So, whether Texans are singing, peeing, or pondering life's mysteries, personal hygiene is important. It doesn't matter if you shower 14 times a week or three, as long as your personal care works with your lifestyle, then your body (and the people around you) will thank you.
