Newer isn't always better. And for over 100 years, Gruene Hall has withstood the test of time.

Since 1878, Gruene Hall, has been one of the must go music venues in Texas. And still today its winning awards. According to MySanAntonio.com, the Texas Country Music Association has named Gruene Hall as the 2024 Live Music Venue of the Year. This is the second time that Gruene Hall has won the award.

Gruene Hall beat out four other dance halls for the award. The Kenny Store in Kenny, Rhinestone Saloon in Fort Worth, Coupland Dancehall in Coupland, and John T. Floore's Country Store.

The owner of Gruene Hall told MySanAntonio.com that they are proud to be the "stewards of the oldest dancehall in Texas" and that Gruene Hall is a place of "legends".

"Live music venues are one of the great places where everyone is welcome — where all are treated with dignity and welcomed," said Ryan Weinbrandt, CEO of Molak Corporation which owns and operates Gruene Hall in an email. "We're proud to be the stewards of the oldest dancehall in Texas, Gruene Hall. It’s not always easy — we're still sweeping up dust and wrangling the occasional raccoon —  but it’s worth it when we hear people’s stories of their first time visiting. Gruene Hall is a place of legends, and it’s humbling to see it recognized."

Gruene Hall last won the award in 2020, and they continue to get great artists who perform inside. Gruene Hall truly is a Texas icon and one that will be around for a long, long time.
