Texas Man Given Three Life Sentences for Crimes Against Children
A man from Midland, TX, was recently given three separate life sentences after being found guilty on two counts of sexual assault with a child, among others.
Jackie Nolan Kocks Found Guilty
Jackie Nolan Kocks, 58, in his trial at the end of October, received a verdict from the jury deeming him guilty on two charges of Aggravated Sexual Assault with a child and one count of Indecency with a Child by Exposure.
The jury only had to deliberate for three hours before returning the guilty verdict. Kocks actually requested that his punishment be set by the presiding judge, Judge Jeffrey Robnett, who gave him three life sentences that will be served consecutively, according to Midland-Reporter Telegram.
In 2018, Kocks had sexual contact with a female girl under the age of 14, then again in 2019 with the same girl. Also in 2019, he exposed himself to the same child. Kocks was roughly 52 years old at the time.
Midland Reporter also indicated that Kocks had previously been convicted of a child sex offense back in 1986 in a separate county. This meant that he was already registered as a sex offender in the State of Texas, so any convictions of further sex offenses involving children means an automatic life sentence.
The third charge, indecent exposure, was also given a life sentence by Judge Robnett, and Kocks had two felony DWI charges in the past.
Kocks will serve at least 30 years before being eligible for parole.
