A Texas fisherman and his 4-year-old son love to spend time together fishing on the lake. But last week, Russell Hair and son Cayson experienced a little bit more than just choppy waters on Lake Brownwood.

"Oh my gosh," peeped out of the 4-year-old as his dad reeled in a 41-pound flathead catfish, measuring 46.25 inches long and 29 inches wide. The record-setting fish gave Hair a 45-minute fight before it was hauled onto the boat.

The previous record for a flathead fish to be caught by rod and reel weighted 31 pounds in 2010, according to Texas Department of Parks and Wildlife. However, the previous record fish was caught with a hot dog as bait.
