Jimmy Kimmel Live Won’t Air In Certain Texas Cities
Jimmy Kimmel will be back on air on Tuesday night, but not all stations will be airing the show. Nexstar Media and Sinclair Broadcasting announced earlier this week that their ABC affiliate stations would not be airing Jimmy Kimmel Live.
So what does that look like for Texas stations?
A Large Area of Texas Will Not See Jimmy Kimmel Live on ABC
According to the Dallas Morning News, much of West Texas and the Panhandle will not be able to see Jimmy Kimmel on ABC Tuesday night. With Nexstar and Sinclair Broadcasting preempting the show, it means viewers in Abilene, Amarillo, Lubbock, Midland-Odessa and San Angelo will not see the show on ABC. Of course the show also is available on Disney+ so viewers could still watch the show that way.
Kimmel was taken off the air last week after he made comments that advertisers, affiliates, and even the head of the FCC complained about according to the Dallas Morning News.
The uproar began when Kimmel said in a monologue that “many in MAGA land are working very hard to capitalize on the murder of Charlie Kirk” and that “the MAGA gang” was “desperately trying to characterize this kid who murdered Charlie Kirk as anything other than one of them.”
Disney never said they were firing Kimmel, but fans of Kimmel protested and some claimed the benching of his show was a violation of free speech.
