From Painful to Peaceful: Texas Dental Experts on Beating Canker Sores
Thanks to a Texas-based dental care company, there are some easy things you can do if you suffer the fate often worse than death: canker sores.
What Actually Are Canker Sores?
Before I get into some Texas-based home remedies, let me clarify what a canker sore is. According to the Mayo Clinic, canker sores are small lesions that grow on the soft tissue inside your mouth.
They don't grow anywhere outside of the mouth and they are not contagious.
These sores are notoriously painful, making chewing and speaking difficult, but they typically fade away within a week or two. They can also be categorized into three separate forms: minor, major, and herpetiform (sounds scary, but I'll explain).
Minor canker sores are the most common. These are just small oval shaped sores that heal within two weeks. Major canker sores are less common and are larger and can be extremely painful, taking up to six weeks to fully heal.
Then, you have herpetiform canker sores, and no, these are not caused by the herpes virus. These are tiny little pinpoint sores that often sprout in clusters of up to 100. Luckily, these, too, dissolve within two weeks.
How to Avoid/Heal Canker Sores
According to Davis Family Dental Care, there are a few options you have when it comes to preventing canker sores.
Brushing your teeth, gargling with salt water, and reducing major points of stress in your life are all generally simple things you can do to refrain from suffering these frustrating mouth sores.
