Texas Governor Greg Abbott is warning those in Texas government and in the private sector to remain vigilant after state agencies were being hit with thousands of cyber attacks from Iran.

The Governor tweeted on Wednesday that attempted cyber attacks against state agencies from Iran were hitting 10,000 attempts per minute. Abbott advised all working in state government and in the private sector to make sure their networks were secure.

The Houston Chronicle reported on Tuesday that hackers were able to post a photo of Iranian General Soleimani on the Texas Department of Agriculture website.

According to the Texas Tribune, cyber attacks are nothing new and the state faces "literally billions" of probes each day, but the state is acting extra vigilant this week.
