HOUSTON (AP) — A 14-year-old is facing charges relating to a Houston street-racing crash that killed two other teenagers.

Houston Police say the sole survivor of the Wednesday crash has been referred to Harris County Juvenile Probation authorities on charges of failing to stop and render aid, and racing, causing death.

Police Lt. Larry Crowson says an officer witnessed two cars driving next to each other at high speeds just before 2 a.m. in southwest Houston. He says one driver hit the other vehicle, which then spun out.

Crowson says the two teens inside the second car died after the vehicle struck a tree and overturned. He alleges the 14-year-old in custody was the surviving driver, who tried to flee.

Officials haven't formally identified the victims as of Wednesday afternoon.
