The Texas Department of State Health Services has confirmed the first human case of West Nile virus in Hockley County. Officials say this is not a cause for concern.
The City of Lubbock Health Department confirmed the case this afternoon as a female over the age of 50. She did not travel outside Lubbock County in the two weeks prior to the onset of the illness.
The two new cases are both women and both over the age of 50. Neither woman had travelled outside of Lubbock in the two weeks before the onset of the illness.
