Kithuka, the 2012 Men’s NCAA Cross Country Champion, remains unbeaten during his Texas Tech career as he went undefeated through the 2012 season with seven wins in seven races.
The announcement comes following the Red Raiders securing the best finish in school history at the indoor national championships in Fayetteville, Arkansas.
Kithuka has gone unbeaten in five individual races this season while breaking four school records. He currently ranks first nationally in the 5,000-meter run and fourth nationally in the 3,000-meter run.
This week’s ranking comes after the Red Raiders finished fifth at the 2013 Big 12 Indoor Championships on Sunday, with two Tech athletes winning conference titles.
Kithuka, the 2012 NCAA Cross Country Champion, broke the school record in the 3,000 meter run on Saturday, finishing first overall in the Meyo Invitational at Notre Dame.
Kennedy Kithuka took the NCAA Cross Country Crown, and broke the course record, finishing first overall with a time of 28:31.3 in the 10,000-meter race.
