There is heavy rainfall in Lubbock causing major flash flooding in different areas. Lubbock is under a flash flood warning until 3 p.m., which might be extended, with reports around the county coming in of severe flooding.
The Lubbock Blizzard Recovery Group, originally started to help those that slipped on ice or got stuck in snow, has recently been helping drivers out of flooded roadways.
Large amounts of rainfall caused trouble for motorists in Lubbock, Tahoka and across the region on Monday. Over 5" inches of rain was recorded in Tahoka.
Texas has been drenched by a steady stream of rainfall, which is not expected to completely subside until Sunday. In over an 18 hour period, the deluge has produced 3-4 inches and flash flooding in some areas, with the encrusted earth lacking the absorbency to sponge-up the moisture fast enough.
