Just like Jack In the Box, Hardee's and a number of other fast food chains, Taco Bueno is going to give it a second try in Lubbock.

Taco Bueno came to Lubbock in the late 2000s and ended up closing all four its Lubbock locations by November 2013. Taco Bueno has numerous locations all over Texas, including San Angelo, Abilene, Wichita Falls, the Dallas/Fort Worth Metroplex, Katy, Austin, Tyler and even into Oklahoma.

Taco Bueno's new Lubbock location will be inside of a converted Burger King at 82nd & Milwaukee at the entrance to Walmart. The location, officially listed online as store number #3242, is still being teased as "Coming Soon."

As you see in some of the photos attached at the end of this article, the old Burger King building has been repainted to resemble a Taco Bueno location and there are now some signs posted for the new restaurant.

Back in the day when Taco Bueno was in Lubbock, I liked getting The Muchaco as part of my meal. The Muchaco features beef or chicken wrapped in a pita bread with lettuce, tomatoes, cheese and refried beans. The pita bread was a unique taste and less messy than a conventional crunchy taco.

Another go-to for me was Bueno's Big Freakin' Taco Salad. A large portion of meat and lettuce, and you can never go wrong with sour cream and guacamole on a taco salad.

There's no word on if Taco Bueno will open additional locations in Lubbock as part of their return to the city. If I had to guess, I would think at least two locations would be open in the Hub City by the end of the year.

No opening date has been announced for the location at 82nd & Milwaukee Avenue.
