A call to LPD resulted in a car chase and two arrests.

At approximately 11:30 a.m., LPD received a call of a civil disturbance in the 7700 block of Vernon Avenue saying that a male was refusing to leave the home. Officers responded to the scene, and a white SUV was observed leaving the residence and then running a stop sign. The officer attempted to conducted a traffic stop but the suspect refused to stop and fled the scene.

In the 2300 block of 78th Street multiple shots were fired from the vehicle toward the pursing officer before the car stalled out near 78th Street and Flint Avenue. At that point the male driver bailed out of the SUV and ran from officers. Other officers located a female and two children inside the SUV. The mother of the children, 33-year-old April Foskett, was arrested for two outstanding misdemeanor warrants. CPS was notified and took custody of the children.

A short time later, K9 units located 32-year-old Thomas Caudill hiding in a back yard in the 2700 block of 79th Street. Caudill was in possession of a handgun, but he was taken into custody without incident. Caudill was arrested for aggravated assault on public servant, evading in a motor vehicle, evading on foot, unlawful possession of a firearm by a felon, abandoning or endangering a child and an outstanding felony warrant for a parole violation.
