Lubbock residents will have the opportunity to help some soon-to-be mothers in the area Saturday.

The 11th annual Stork’s Nest Baby Shower, hosted by the Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center Larry Combest Health & Wellness Center and the March of Dimes, will run from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m. Saturday, July 20th. The event will take place at Kmart at 65th Street and University Avenue.

South Plains residents are asked to donate new baby items to help “fill the baby bus.” The donated items will be on display during the baby shower, and monetary donations will also be accepted.

According to a press release, the Lubbock Chapter of the Stork’s Nest helps expectant mothers access early and consistent prenatal care, gain education on having the healthiest baby possible, and receive new baby items in return.

The Stork’s Nest is a national cooperative project of the March of Dimes, Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, and the Combest Center.
