A state council has scheduled a public forum next week in the Hub City to get input on housing for those with special needs.

The Housing and Health Services Coordination Council will hold a public forum to accept comment on its 2012-2013 Draft Biennial Plan, offering area residents a chance to shape public policy on housing issues confronting persons of all ages with disabilities.

“Before the state can improve the quality of life for its most vulnerable residents, the Council must first identify the barriers and opportunities that exist regarding service-enriched housing,” said Tim Irvine, executive director of the Texas Department of Housing and Community Affairs and Council chair.

“The input we receive from Lubbock residents can help influence the direction Texas takes in this effort.”

The forum will begin at 10 a.m. Tuesday, June 19th, in Room 216 of the Lubbock Regional MHMR Center, located at 904 Avenue Q.
