Spotlight on Mariachi Mexico Lindo, Performing at the Buddy Holly Center Summer Showcase
The Buddy Holly Center's Summer Showcase for 2022 this week will feature not just one artist but a whole group of them known as Mariachi Mexico Lindo.
Mariachi, the band's bread and butter, originated in West Mexico a few hundred years ago to convey stories or emotions. Mariachi Mexico Lindo doesn't just play mariachi music, but also country, motown and other genres with their own mariachi flair. Lubbock music lovers will get the opportunity to see this for themselves as the group takes the stage at the Meadows Courtyard at the Buddy Holly Center Thursday, June 16th, 2022 from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m.
Mariachi Mexico Lindo was founded back in 2010 by Oscar Castillo with a goal to share the beauty of Mariachi music with others. Not only has Castillo accomplished that, but with the help of both former and current bandmates the group has been able to share a bit of music culture that isn't too common this far up into Texas.
For those who want to sample their music before driving to the showcase, you can find their music online and on YouTube from when they performed for Texas Tech University's Sound On Tap.
If you go to the Buddy Holly Showcase and just can't get enough of Mariachi Mexico Lindo, head on over to Albarran's where they can be seen and heard performing every Friday night on the patio from 7 to 11 p.m., weather permitting. Mariachi Mexico Lindo is also set to perform at the Maggie Trejo Center on August 2nd for the annual National Night Out event held every year. Mariachi Mexico Lindo is also available for birthday parties and any event that needs a little extra spice and flair. What's a party without music to get you vibing with the rhythm of the Earth, right? The group can be contacted on Facebook or by calling: (806) 281-3319.
Admission to the Buddy Holly Center Summer Showcase is free to the public, but outside food and beverages, along with chairs and picnic blankets, are not permitted. Guests are encouraged to walk through exhibitions during the Summer Showcase hours.
