In a statement from Snyder’s Chief of Police, Brian Haggard, the officer involved in the shooting has been identified as Whitney Merket, a seven-year veteran of the Snyder Police Department.

The shooting occurred Thursday night at 6:35 p.m. after officers were called to the 3600 block of Jacksboro Avenue in Snyder, Texas.
