Senator John Cornyn has responded to criticism from Attorney General Eric Holder and other Democrats who oppose the Texas voter ID law. The law requires voters to provide an ID in order to vote.  In a speech in Austin, Holder said making it harder to vote goes against the "arc of history."

In a news release Cornyn said:

“Voter ID laws are constitutional and necessary to prevent fraud at the ballot box.  Facing an election challenge next year, the administration has chosen to target efforts by

states to protect the democratic process.”
