Lubbock-based band Element are mourning the loss of one of their own.

In a Facebook post dated Saturday, December 26th, Element shared that founder Freddie Curry had "gained his wings."

"One of our band members gained his wings today. Fly high Freddie Curry, your pain and worries are over. You will be missed by all," the statement reads. No cause of death has been released.

Fans offered an outpouring of support for the band, as well as Curry's family, on the Facebook thread.

"So very sad to hear this. Freddie was a great musician & a kind gentle soul," said one person.

"My heart is with Freddy's family and all you guys in the band! He was a bright light for all of us," said another.

Element has been a staple in the Lubbock music scene for more than a decade. If you've ever been to a local bar, you've probably seen Element perform live. The funk group has entertained thousands of Lubbockites over the course of their enduring career.

Our thoughts and prayers go out to Freddie Curry's family, friends and bandmates during this difficult time.
