A new study released by Wallethub lists the most and least educated states in America in 2020. Surprisingly, Texas only ranks 39th overall, with one of the lowest percentages of high school diploma holders (Texas is ranked 49th).

Though the quality of education in Texas is 15th in the nation according to the report, the low educational attainment rank of 43rd counters that greatly.

Texas is 1st in the nation for gender gap, and 5th in the racial gap in educational attainment. (Not good.)

In the study used to develop this report, WalletHub looked at education attainment, school quality and achievement gaps between gender and races.
