The Lubbock County Republican Party has begun the process to fill the candidate seat for County Court at Law #3.

The candidacy was left vacant after the death of David Nelson, a lawyer and former city councilman, on July 18. Nelson was killed after bring struck by a vehicle while riding his bike in South Lubbock.

According to state law, Nelson’s name can be removed from the ballot and the The Lubbock County Republican Party is now accepting letters of intent from qualified applicants until 5:00 p.m. Wednesday afternoon, August 1, 2018.

All letters of intent to run for County Court at Law #3 should be given to LCRP chairman Steve Evans by email, chairman@lubbockgop.org, or in person at the party headquarters, located at 2642 34th Street.

The executive committee will be meeting Monday, August 6, to vote on the replacement candidate for Nelson. Potential candidates are invited to the meeting to make their case to the executive committee.
