Thursday on The Chad Hasty Show, guest host Paul R. Beane was joined in the KFYO studio by L. Scott Mann from Lubbock Lights to discuss the escalating situation surrounding the "watch list" that was distributed to the Lubbock Police Department prior to the recent pro-life gathering and march opposing Planned Parenthood and abortion in Lubbock.

Mann was interviewed last week on the show (audio below) about his original article breaking the story, and has since published another article on the issue, Lubbock’s tax on free speech: ‘We paid police $1625 for security for that march; why pay if they were watching us anyway?’"

During the conversation with Beane, Mann said,

It's almost, and it's not, I know this, but it is almost an extortion racket. you've got Planned Parenthood over here creating a charged situation with a watch list, and trying to suggest that this is a dangerous situation. And so the police react and say, 'Hey you have to have security.' Now what that becomes is a tax on free speech, there's no other way to describe it. I think the city of Lubbock has a real problem, in fact I know it does. If the city has not been perfectly reasonable and consistent in how it charged this tax, this, if you want to have a march, you have to pay for security. If the city of Lubbock has not been consistent in that, if they waived it for some, charged it to others, then you have what we knew already was happening, they're picking winners and losers, they're taking sides and they're using your tax dollars to take political positions and fund them.
