Texas Governor Rick Perry has received an unlikely endorsement in his campaign for the GOP’s 2012 Presidential Nomination.

Former Perry gubernatorial opponent, Kinky Friedman, yesterday endorsed Perry’s presidential campaign in a column in The Daily Beast.

Friedman, who ran for Governor in 2006 and Ag Commissioner in 2010, says that Perry’s tenure as governor is ‘Exhibit A’ in fixing the nation’s economy.  He also praised Perry’s positive interactions with Israel and said Perry would help the situation in the Middle East.

A quote from Friedman's article: "He is not only a good sport, he is a good, kindhearted man, and he once sat in on drums with ZZ Top. A guy like that can’t be all bad."
