What the perfect time for the holidays, a new Pedro's Tamales is now open in the Lubbock area.

Back in July, Chad told us about a new location coming to the area and their expansion plans, well one step has now been completed in Southwest Lubbock.

This restaurant has a long history in the area. They started back in 1977 and were selling them out of an auto part store. Then four years later they finally opened up their first Pedro's Tamale location. Following more than 10 years later, in 1993 Pedro's Tamales was named the Official Tamale of Texas.

Their location at 8207 Highway 87 is staying open but their new location will be at 6620 Milwaukee Ave., Suite 950. This was the old Pie Bar building. The new location is open Monday through Saturday, 7 a.m. to 7 p.m.

You will be able to enjoy great tamales, food and drinks at both locations. They even offer vegan and vegetarian options for people who need it as well. They also rolled out a new kids' menu.

According to Chad's article, "The Official Tamale is about to expand beyond Lubbock -- and even beyond Texas. The plan that's currently in the works has Pedro's Tamales opening five locations in Lubbock and 200 locations in 15 years across Texas and other states. All of this while keeping to its original recipes, history and tradition."

So enjoy some great tamales as Pedro's Tamales is excited to be serving more of Lubbock now.
