Friday on KFYO Mornings renowned broadcaster and former Lubbock city councilman Paul R. Beane joined hosts Robert Snyder and Matt Martin in the KFYO studio to share his thoughts on issues facing the city of Lubbock.

The three discussed the proposed city budget and property tax rate increase of 3.36 percent, the hotly debated topic of valuations, the proposed dirt arena, LP&L and ERCOT problems, and more.

When asked by Martin about recent claims by city council members that there are no items in the city budget that can be cut, Beane replied, "There's not a budget on Earth that can't be cut ten percent."

Beane continued on taxation, saying,

You cannot continue to grow a budget and raise taxes. Ronald Reagan has proved this. He proved it over and over. Donald J. Trump is proving it right now - You can't tax yourself into prosperity. The only thing you can tax yourself into is being dead broke.
