EL PASO, Texas (AP) — Two El Paso women have been arrested on charges of injury to a child for the fatal mauling of their 4-year-old boy by a pack of family dogs in July.

El Paso police say 27-year-old Brittany Brooks and 29-year-old Ashley Brooks are each jailed on $75,000 bond. Authorities say both also have multiple traffic warrants.

Police in July found the body of Jacob Brooks in the backyard of his home. At the time, police said one of the women had left the child in an enclosed trampoline. It wasn't clear how long he was there or whether he was inside alone with the four dogs. Animal control officials have said the dogs had been starving and were aggressive.

The two women were arrested Friday evening at a relative's home.
