Oscar Mayer Wienermobile in Lubbock as Part of 75th Anniversary

A familiar figure will be driving around Lubbock this week.

The Mini Oscar Mayer Wienermobile will be in the Hub City as part of the 75^th anniversary of the famed automotive and food icon.

The Wienermobile, this time built on the chassis of a Mini Cooper S, has delivered for Meals on Wheels to Lubbockites, and will visit local Trunk-or-Treats, grill hot dogs for a Halloween event, and will support the Red Raiders in their football game against Iowa State on Saturday.

The Wienermobile will visit the Goodwill location in the 5700 block of Spur 327 on Friday from noon until 4 p.m. and will give away free hot dogs. They have teamed up with United Supermarkets to make the event possible.

The collectible wiener whistles will also be handed out at these events as well. The first Wienermobile began rolling in 1936.

Tuesday, 10.25.11

Time:  9:00am - 1:00pm - South Plains Career Expo

Event Details: The event allows students to hear from professionals in various career fields. We will interact with students and tell them what it is like to work for Oscar Mayer and the Wienermobile. We will also be passing out Wiener Whistles.

Time:  2:00pm – 3:00pm – Covenant Children’s Hospital

Event Details: We will visit the Covenant Children’s Hospital and give Wiener Whistles and stickers to children.

Wednesday, 10.26.11

Time:  6:00pm - 7:30pm -Lakeridge United Methodist Church - Trunk-or-Treat

Event Details: We will be at the church with an extra “trunk” and glow-in-dark Wiener Whistles.

Friday, 10.28.11

Time: 12:00pm – 4:00pm – Halloween Event at Goodwill

Event Details: The store is partnering with a local grocery store, United Supermarket, to give away free hot dogs. The store employees will be dressed in costumes and handing out candy.

Time: 6:00pm – 8:00pm - First Christian Church  - Trunk-or-Treat

Address: 2323 Broadway Ave; Lubbock TX 79409

Event Details: We will go to a local church in downtown Lubbock that provides a safe trick-or-treating environment for families. The Mini Wienermobile will be an extra “trunk” with Wiener Whistles.

Saturday, 10.29.11

Time:  11:00am – 6:00pm – Texas Tech Tailgate

Address: Various Texas Tech Campus Locations

Event Details: The Mini Wienermobile will be going to several 7-Elevens around Texas Tech campus. At 3:00pm it will be at the 7-Eleven near the Jones AT&T stadium. 7-Eleven will also have hot dogs on the grill, and in true Halloweenie spirit, they will give a FREE Big Gulp drink with the purchase of an all-beef Oscar Mayer hot dog.
