According to TxDoT, a 2017 Kia Optima was driving north on FM 400, northeast of Lubbock, when the driver drove through a stop sign at the intersection with FM 40.
That’s when a 2001 Truck Tractor hauling a 1968 Semi-Trailer and traveling west struck the passenger side of the Optima. 59-year-old Cary Lynn Stennett of Lorenzo, Texas, the driver of the Tractor Trailer, was killed in the accident.
Both the driver and passenger of the Optima suffered non-incapacitating injuries. The Texas Highway Patrol is still investigating what happened and who is at fault.
