One Person Killed in Two-Vehicle Accident Near Shallowater

According to police, one person has died after a two-vehicle accident Friday morning just northwest of Shallowater.\

Police say the accident occurred on Highway 84 near County Road 1100. A driver apparently stopped their vehicle at a highway rest stop to sleep.

Just before 3:00 a.m., another driver traveling west on Highway 84, lost control and drove into the parked car.

Texas DPS says that the person parked at the rest stop was killed in the accident and that the second driver's vehicle wound up wrecked on a nearby railroad track.

Police say they were taken to University Medical Center, but the extent of their injuries is unknown.
