No Fires Ignited From Illegal Use of Fireworks in Lubbock County, Few Reports of Fireworks Use [AUDIO]
It was a fairly uneventful Independence Day holiday for local authorities regarding illegal fireworks use.
A total of six citations were issued in the City of Lubbock for illegal use of fireworks over the 4th of July Holiday.
Within the city, no fires occurred due to illegal fireworks being set off. In Lubbock County, Sheriff’s Deputies responded to 21 calls concerning illegal use of fireworks. 44 total calls regarding fireworks within the City of Lubbock occurred from June 30th until the morning of July 5th.
The only fire reported over the weekend occurred in Slaton, and has been attributed to a barbecue grill being left unattended. Damage was contained to the yard in which the fire started, and no structures were harmed.
Less than a paper bag full of fireworks was confiscated by authorities.
