
Texas Announces Drivers License Redesign, Will You Have To Get A New License?
The Texas Department of Public Safety announced on Monday that the Texas driver's license is getting an all new look. It's all due to upgraded security features on the driver's license.
New Look Texas Driver's License Revealed This Week
The Texas Department of Public Safety started rolling out the new look driver's licenses on Monday which means if you go to get a new driver's license, your new one will look much different than the old drivers license.
According to ABC7News, the new drivers licenses and ID cards are made from tamper-resistant polycarbonate material. This makes it more difficult to reproduce. One big change is the replacement of the gold star with a black, laser engraved start to show REAL ID compliance. Personal information should also be easier to read.
New Driver's License ID Cards Packed With Security
According to ABC7News, the new driver's license will make it more difficult for criminals to be able to create fake and counterfeit ID cards. The Texas Department of Public Safety told ABC7News that the new ID cards "enhance the way we can protect Texans' identities from being stolen.
Will Texans Have To Get a New Driver's License?
Don't worry, your current drivers license will remain valid until the expiration date. That means that you won't have to rush and get a new ID unless yours is expiring and it's time for a new drivers license.
