Lubbock Murder Suspect Files Lawsuit Over Lack of Medical Treatment
Forty-one-year-old David Wayne Bethel has filed a federal civil rights lawsuit against Lubbock County on Tuesday, January 3.
According to the handwritten suit, Bethel isn't receiving proper treatment at Lubbock County Detention Center.
Bethel’s lawsuit said: “I write to ask for injunctive relief. My diagnosis is congestive heart failure. I have previously had two strokes. I am having grave medical problems, and medical here in Lubbock County Detention Center is avoiding treatment. Please help."
Bethel was convicted of murder after he conspired with his cousin to kill Shawn Summers and Jessica Peyton.
KAMC News says that David Bethel has remained in the Lubbock County Detention Center on a $400,000 bond. The murder charge was still pending.
