Missing Texas Tech Alumnus’ Body Found in Austin

The search for a missing former Texas Tech student has come to an end. Austin police have confirmed the body discovered in Lady Bird Lake is the body of missing 25-year-old Martin Gutierrez, who was last seen November 19^th.

KAMC News reports that the body was found in an area near where Gutierrez was last seen. Monday morning, someone told police about a floating body in the river near the 1300 block of East Riverside Drive. The Austin Fire Department recovered the body by boat and family members later confirmed the body as Gutierrez.

A medical examiner is still waiting on results of toxicology reports to help determine the exact cause of death. Gutierrez graduated from Texas Tech University December 2017.
