Former Lubbock State School employee Mickey Patterson has been found guilty of the August 2006 murder of Kay Harrelson.

The jury gave their verdict after an hour and forty minutes of deliberations in the four day trial. The 61-year-old Patterson has also been charged with the murder of Peggy Merimon.

During his testimony, Patterson claimed that he had sexual encounters with Merimon, and that the two women were going to have a joint sexual encounter with him on the day they disappeared.

Cellular phone records link him in the area where the bodies of the two women were dumped, but no physical evidence was presented.

Patterson has been sentenced to life in prison.
