Here are just a few things in Chad’s Pile that you will hear on Lubbock’s First News this morning. Give Chad your feedback on the steaming topics.

1. LFN Roadshow at Reese Golf

loading...

Come out and join LFN this morning at Reese Golf. Mayor Tom Martin Martin will appear on the show to discuss the city’s Health Department,CitiBus, and more coming out of City Hall. We will also have a 3rd mic set up so you can come out and sound off on the issues. Of course we will also have a lot of fun out at Reese. Come on out and say hello and have some breakfast.

Oh and of course come say hi to Megan.

2. It's Bush's fault (link)

The economy is bad and it's only gotten worse under President Obama. So who do Americans blame for the current state of the economy? Bush.

And more Americans still blame former President George W. Bush rather than Obama for the economic distress. Some 31 percent put the bulk of the blame on Obama, while 51 percent point to his Republican predecessor.

"I think Bush had a hand in it, too. Obama's not totally responsible," said Mary Parish, 68, of Troy, Tenn. An independent who voted for Republican John McCain in 2008, she said she doesn't believe Obama has what it takes to heal the economy. "He's a smooth-talking man. But he does not know what he's doing."

As long as Americans aren't holding Obama responsible, he won't take any of the responsibility.

3. Websites still track you (link)

Just because you turn on DNT on your browser, doesn't mean websites aren't tracking you.

DNT settings, which ask ad networks and the websites you visit not to track you, are the brainchild of security and privacy rabble-rouser Christopher Soghoian. His idea was to port the functionality of the Do Not Call list to the Internet, without forcing users to figure out cookies or register their computers in a national database. Firefox, IE9, and Safari all offer the option.

But none of that really matters, since the setting has no legal muscle. Websites are free to ignore it. And they do. As of June, only five had pledged to follow it—the Associated Press plus four of the hundreds of behavior-tracking ad networks whose raison d’èAtre is figuring out how you view the web.

Happy surfing.
