The race to replace Congressman Jodey Arrington is continuing to heat up in the Republican Primary. The race in the Republican Primary is full of candidates who are already traveling across the 19th Congressional District campaigning for the job that no one thought would be open months ago.
Several of the candidates who are running in the Republican Primary have appeared already on The Chad Hasty Show. Including Tom Sell, Abraham Enriquez, and Jason Corley. On Monday, Matt Smith joined the show to discuss his campaign and to make two announcements.
Matt Smith Takes Term Limits Pledge
Abilene businessman Matt Smith appeared on Monday's edition of The Chad Hasty Show to discuss his campaign, business background, and introduced himself to voters. He also made two announcements.
First, Smith signed the U.S. Term Limits Amendment Pledge on air. The pledge is to continue to support a constitutional amendment that would limit elected officials to three, two-year terms in the House and two, six year terms in the U.S. Senate. The pledge doesn't mean that Smith would have to self-impose a term limit, just that he would support one moving forward.
Smith also announced that if elected, he would be donating his Congressional salary to local charities across the district. Smith told listeners that he wants to change the way business is done in Washington.
